Oral technology has come far in the last 100 years, but even that rate of advance looks small compared to the increases being made in laser dentistry. Nearly every dental procedure can be complemented with laser technology, which is more efficient than traditional oral methods. Here are some illustrations of how laser dentistry is changing the way dental practitioners do their work:

Tissue fold treatment:
– A rampant side effect of wearing dentures is the creation of soft tissue folds, something some denture-wearers find cosmetically unappealing. Using a soft tissue laser, we can change the look of the gums.

Tongue tie removal:
– A tongue tie (also called ankyloglossia) occurs when tissue in the oral cavity ties the tip of the tongue to the bottom of the mouth. This impacts a child’s capacity to breastfeed, and it can be fixed using oral lasers.

Tooth preparation:
– During oral services, your teeth are first arranged for treatment, usually with an oral drill. By using dental laser technology, we can prepare your pearly whites without using dental drills as much, and in a few cases, we may not have to use dental drills at all.

Treating sleep apnea:
–  Sometimes sleep apnea in the elderly is caused by superfluous tissue growth in the throat, and in these cases, a surgery can be laser-assisted to release the throat of the excess tissue.

With all of the extensive applications of lasers in dental treatments, it’s no wonder that laser dentistry is growing so hastily. We’d love to share extra information about the possibilities of laser dentistry and what it means for your oral health.
